“Smile” is officially the name of singer Katy Perry’s fifth studio album. The release of the album is scheduled for August 28, 2020. It is preceded by the hit “Never Really Over” and the singles “Harleys in Hawaii”, “Daisies” and “Smile”.
Katy explained that Smile is about “finding the light at the end of the tunnel”, and taking back your smile, and that the album comes from a place where she fell in after her career and relationship hit a low point back in 2017. Perry also defined the album as her “journey towards the light, with stories of resilience, hope, and love”.
In an interview with radio iHeartRadio, Katy commented on the visuals of the album:
“I’m about to start revealing that there’s a whole world about this next record, and there’s a theme of course ’cause I’m such a sucker for a theme. It’s definitely about finding your smile again.”
On July 3, Katy posted a mysterious tweet and generated many comments throughout the day, making “Smile Is Coming” one of the most talked about subjects on Twitter Worldwide.
4 days later, the website to reveal the album cover was available. The goal was to tweet using the hashtag #KP5Reveal until I managed to pop all the balloons, revealing the cover.
As expected, the hashtag reached the top of Trends Topics around the world and within hours the album cover had been revealed.
